Sudhir is an Indian Para-powerlifter. He hit the headlines in August 2022 when he clinched a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, England in the men’s heavyweight para powerlifting for the first time in the history of India.

Sudhir was born on Thursday, 27 October 1994 (age 28 years; as of 2022) in Sonipat, Haryana. His zodiac sign is Scorpio. At the age of four, he was attacked by the polio disease that led to an impairment in his leg.

Career
Sudhir started practising powerlifting professionally in 2013. He participated in the Asian Para Games held in Indonesia where he clinched a gold medal in the 80kg category. Later, he was appointed as a senior coach with the Government of Haryana. In 2018, during the 17th Senior and 12th Junior National Para Powerlifting Championships, he was honoured with the title “Strong Man of India.” In 2022, he participated in the Commonwealth Games where he lifted 208kgs in the first attempt and 212kg in the second attempt. However, in the third attempt, he failed to lift 217kg. Upon winning the finals of the para-powerlifting championships, he became the first Indian man to win a gold medal for India in powerlifting and set a record with his total points of 134.5. He defeated his Nigerian opponent Ikechukwu Obichukwu by 0.9 points.

- After winning a gold medal in the Commonwealth Games in 2022, Sudhir looked super excited during a media conference and talked bout his upcoming plans in a discussion. He said that he would like to celebrate his win by shopping in London and seeing the city. He told,
My preparation was very good and I thank Birmingham for this. Preparation was good, the weather was good, the crowd was great – fantastic. Next for me is a celebration: I’m going to London to enjoy some shopping and see the city.”

- In a media conversation, Sudhir disclosed that he was inspired by the player Christiano Ronaldo and Virender Sehwag. He added that used to watch a lot of cricket before professionally opting for powerlifting as a career. According to him, he likes Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar.
