Rajesh Nair is an Indian film director and film producer, who mainly works in the Malayalam film industry. He is best known for directing the Malayalam films Escape from Uganda (2   013), Salt Mango Tree (2015), and Kalyanam (2018).

Rajesh Nair, also known as Rajesh Mohanan , was born on Saturday, 12 August 1978 (age 45 years; as of 2023) in Thiruvananthapuram Taluk, Kerala. His zodiac sign is Leo. Rajesh attended the University of British Columbia, Canada, to pursue a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from 1996 to 1999. Meanwhile, he also pursued an Advanced Diploma in Software Engineering from Aptech Computer Education. Rajesh pursued a Master of Business Administration in International Marketing from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda, from 2007 to 2009. Thereafter, he pursued a one-year course in filmmaking and direction at New York Film Academy, New York.

Career

Rajesh Nair had a successful career as the CEO of Tembo Steel Limited, a prominent company in East Africa specializing in manufacturing hot and cold rolled profiles, before venturing into the film industry. He dedicated eight consecutive years to Tembo Steel Limited, serving in two key corporate positions: Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer. During his tenure, Nair’s professional contributions played a significant role in propelling the company to become the second-largest exporter of steel products in Uganda. Following his time at Tembo Steel Limited, Nair transitioned to another influential role as the Chief Marketing Manager at Roofings Limited, a major player in the Ugandan steel industry. He remained with Roofings Limited for an additional six years, further solidifying his expertise and experience in the field. However, Nair decided to shift gears and pursue a career in the entertainment industry nearly a decade ago. He took on the role of Managing Director at Impressario Uganda Limited, marking his entry into the world of show business. Through this position, he became the franchise holder for Miss India Worldwide in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania, as well as one of the key organizers of Zee Mantra, an Indian lifestyle TV event. Nair’s background in business administration and international marketing proved invaluable to his rapid success in this new line of work. In the entertainment industry, Nair finally had the opportunity to explore his lifelong passion for movies, thereby fulfilling a personal dream.

Rajesh Nair made his debut as a producer in 2018 with the Malayalam film Kalyanam. Subsequently, he produced the Malayalam films Eighteen Hours (2021) and In (2022).

Since 2012, he has been a company director of two production houses, Vaya Films Ltd and Meru Motion Pictures.

Rajesh Nair made his debut as a film director in 2013 with the Malayalam film Escape From Uganda.

In the same year, he directed the Malayalam film Annum Innum Ennum. Subsequently, he directed the Malayalam films Salt Mango Tree (2015), Kalyanam (2018), Kalyanam (2018), Thrissur Pooram (2019), Eighteen Hours (2021), and In (2022). He has also directed the Bhojpuri film Mahadev Ka Gorakhpur. The film later became pan India and was released in 6 languages.

Rajesh Nair has also directed ad shoots for various brands like Samsung, SABMiller, and Chinmaya University.
