Supriya Shrinate was born on Thursday, 27 October 1977 (age 46 years; as of 2023) in Mahrajganj, Uttar Pradesh. She completed her schooling at Loreto Convent in Lucknow in 1996. She obtained a graduate degree in political science, history, and economics from the University of Lucknow in 1999. In 2001, she pursued a Master’s in History at Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Delhi University.

Journalist

Supriya started her career as a special correspondent at the Indian news channel India Today in October 2001, where she did news reading and proofreading for three years till September 2004. She joined the NDTV news channel as Assistant Editor in October 2004. She worked there for four years in news reporting, editing, script writing, etc. She became Chief Editor-News at The Economic Times Channel, ET Now, Times of India Group, New Delhi, in September 2008. During her ten years tenure at Economic Times Now, she worked as the executive editor and policy editor.

Politician

In April 2019, she left her job at the news channel ET Now, and she contested the Indian general election from the Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh constituency on a ticket from the Indian National Congress party; she lost the elections to Pankaj Choudhary from the Bhartiya Janta Party.

She was appointed as spokesperson for the All India Congress Committee and participated in various television debates. In the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, she was the star campaigner of the Indian National Congress. Comment on Sambit Patra

In May 2021, during a debate on the news channel Aaj Tak, Supriya Shrinate called BJP’s minister Sambit Patra “do kaudi ke naali ke keede, arre chup ho ja naali ke keede… jhootha kahin ka.” They had a series of tweet fight when Sambit Patra posted on Twitter with a hashtag GaliWaliMadam.
