Ravi Sihag is an Indian Administration Service Officer of the 2021 batch of the Madhya Pradesh cadre. He achieved the 18th rank in the UPSC CSE 2021 examination on his fourth attempt. He was also the top scorer among all the candidates who appeared for the exam in Hindi medium. Before this accomplishment, Ravi had previously cracked the exam twice, securing the 337th rank in 2018 and the 317th rank in 2019. In those attempts, he was assigned to the Indian Defense Accounts Service (IDAS) and the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS), respectively.

Ravi Kumar Sihag was born on Thursday, 2 November 1995 (age 28 Years; as of 2023) in Village Chak 3 Bam, Vijayanagar, Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan.  His zodiac sign is Scorpio. He completed his school education up to 7th class at Saraswati Vidya Mandir School, Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. He then joined Sharda School in Anupgarh to complete his schooling up to 11th Grade. He completed his 12th class at a Government senior secondary school in Vijayanagar, Rajasthan. In 2015, he attained a bachelor’s degree in arts from Sharda College, Anupgarh, Rajasthan.

Career
Ravi attempted the UPSC exam for the first time in 2018 and achieved 337th rank and was selected for the Indian Defense Accounts Service (IDAS). In 2019, in his second attempt, he secured 317th rank and was selected for the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS). However, Ravi Kumar had a strong desire to become an IAS officer, so he continued his preparation for the civil service examinations even after clearing the exam twice. In 2020, on his third attempt, he couldn’t pass the UPSC preliminary exams. However, in 2021, he succeeded in the exam with an All India Rank (AIR) of 18 on his fourth try, and as a result, he was appointed as an IAS officer.
In the UPSC exam 2021, the top 17 candidates were from the English medium. However, Ravi Kumar Sihag, who appeared for the exam in Hindi medium, secured the 18th rank, making him the highest-ranking candidate among all the Hindi medium students in UPSC CSE 2021. Ravi’s main subjects in the UPSC examination were Political Science, Economics, and English Literature, and he chose Hindi Literature as an optional subject.
On 30 August 2023, Ravi Kumar Sihag began his training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand. During the training, he participated in and won a quiz about the ‘Constitution and Life of Dr Ambedkar’ that was organized on the occasion of Dr Ambedkar Jayanti. For his victory, he was honoured with a prize by the fourteenth President of India Ram Nath Kovind and the Governor of Uttarakhand, Gurmit Singh.
