In March 2023, Prithviraj Tondaiman earned a bronze as his first individual World Cup medal at the ISSF World Cup Shotgun in Doha, Qatar. In July 2023, he won a bronze medal for the second time in the men’s trap event at the ISSF World Cup shotgun in Lonato, Italy, where he was the only Indian to earn the medal. In an interview, Prithviraj talked about the positive impact that his trap coach Russell Mark left on him and explained that working with Russell gave him immense confidence to head towards the medals. He said,
Over the years, we have worked with many coaches and not one ever told me that ‘you can do it’. Russell did that with me and it gave me the confidence since it was coming from a two-time Olympics champion.”
In October 2023, Prithviraj Tondaiman represented India at the 19th Asian Games (2022) held in Hangzhou, China. He won a gold medal for shooting in the men’s trap event along with his teammates Zoravar Singh Sandhu and Kynan Chenai.
In the 2022 Asian Games, India earned a gold medal for shooting in the men’s trap event, setting an Asian Games record of 361, while Kuwait took silver with a score of 359 points, and China drew bronze with 354 points. Cumulative scores of shooters in the qualifying round from each country were considered to award medals in the trap team event at the Shotgun Ranges, where Prithviraj was in 11th place with a score of 119/125. However, Prithviraj couldn’t qualify for the individual finals.
