Career

Anish Bhanwala began competing in the Modern Pentathlon Championships and played for the country at the U-12 Modern Pentathlon World Championships (2013) and Asian Modern Pentathlon Championships (2015) after which he chose shooting among the pentathlon’s five sports. Anish started shooting at the age of twelve and took his professional training under his coach DSP Harpreet Singh. In 2017, when Anish joined the Indian National shooting team. He bagged two gold, two silver, and a bronze medal at the ISSF Junior World Cup Championships (2017) held in Suhl, Germany. In 2018, he scored a new Commonwealth Games finals record of 30 hits and became the youngest Indian to win a gold medal at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

In 2019, Anish won a gold, a silver, and a bronze at the ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany. In 2022, he bagged silver with 581 points at the World Championships held in Cairo. Anish Bhanwala represented India at the 19th Asian Games (2022) held in Hangzhou, China in 2023. He won a bronze medal for shooting in the men’s 25 m rapid-fire pistol team event along with his teammates Vijayveer Sidhu and Adarsh Singh.

The Indian men’s trio finished in third place with 1718 points, while China earned the gold medal with 1765 points, and South Korea drew silver with 1734 points.
