Pranay Rane was born on Monday, 16 September 2002 (age 21 years; as of 2023) in Kankavali, Maharashtra. His zodiac sign is Virgo. He attended S M High School, Kankavali. He started playing Kabaddi at school and was part of a Kabaddi group known as the ‘Youngster Mandal.’ After schooling, he moved to Mumbai to pursue engineering and enrolled in the Rizvi College of Arts, Science and Commerce. Later, due to his passion for Kabaddi, he transferred to M D College of Arts, Science and Commerce. During college, he played Kabaddi at college and university level.

Career
After graduating from college, he started working at the Bank of Baroda. During his contract with the Bank of Baroda, he started playing Kabaddi with a local Kabaddi team BPT. In 2022, he made his debut in Season 9 of the Pro Kabaddi League with U Mumba, a professional kabaddi team based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, that plays in the Pro Kabaddi League.
He played 11 matches and earned 26 points in the matches he played. His raid strike rate was 53%Â and his tackling strike rate was 25%.

In March 2023, he was awarded the Top Raider Of The Tournament at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chashak Maharashtra State Level Kabaddi Championship 2023.
