Justice Saumitra Dayal Singh was born on Saturday, 20 December 1969 (age 54 years; as of 2023) in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. His zodiac sign is Sagittarius. He pursued his graduation in law from APS University in Rewa in 1992. Saumitra enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh on 25 November 1992.

Not much is known about Saumitra’s parents. He has an elder brother, Anish Dayal Singh, who is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Manipur cadre of the 1988 batch. Anish has held the command of various paramilitary forces such as the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). In November 2023, Anish was given the additional charge as the Director General (DG) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Career

Saumitra Dayal Singh started practising as a lawyer in Allahabad High Court after enrolling with the Uttar Pradesh Bar in 1992. He then practised various fields of law including Taxation, Industrial Laws, and Company Law at the Allahabad High Court. In August 2013, he was designated as a senior advocate. Justice Saumitra was elevated as an Additional Judge of Allahabad High Court on 20 February 2017. On 14 March 2018, Justice Saumitra Dayal Singh took the oath as a Permanent Judge of the Allahabad High Court. He serves as an Administrative Judge for the Districts of Faizabad and Ghaziabad. Saumitra Dayal Singh is set to retire from his services as a judge of the high court on 19 December 2031.
