Atanu Das was born on Sunday, 5 April 1992 (age 31 years; as of 2023) in Baranagar, West Bengal, India. His zodiac sign is Aries. From 1997 to 2009, he did his schooling at Baranagar Narendranath Vidyamandir, Baranagar, West Bengal. He did a BA (Hons) at Vinayaka Mission University in Salem, Tamil Nadu. At the age of 14, he started his coaching in archery under the Indian coach Mithu Da. In 2008, he enrolled in Tata Archery Academy where he trained under the Korean coach Lim Chae Wong.

While he was training at Tata Academy in Jamshedpur, he met the Indian archer Deepika Kumari. Initially, they did not talk to each other due to the language barrier. Gradually, they started talking to each other and became good friends. In 2017, after they lost World Championships in Mexico City, they started connecting emotionally, and soon, fell in love with each other.

In 2018, the couple got engaged. On 30 June 2020, the couple got married in Morabadi in Ranchi in a private ceremony as per the COVID-19 pandemic guidelines.

Career
In his teens, he started participating in various domestic archery matches. In 2008, he made his international debut in archery. His career’s turning point was in 2013 when he won a bronze at the World Cup in Columbia along with the Indian archer Deepika Kumari. He has participated in various archery matches like Outdoor Archery Summer Olympic Games, Archery World Cup, Asian Games, Asian Outdoor Championships, National Games, Olympics, and Junior National Archery Championships.

He represented India at the Rio Olympics in the Recurve Men’s Individual Event in 2016. His handedness in the game is right. His coaches are Mithu Da, Lim Chae Wong, and Juan Carlos Holgado. Atanu Das has been working at the Bharat Petroleum Sports Promotion Board in Kolkata for a few years.
