- In the 1990s, a Bengali newspaper published an article about the baby girl, whose parents had abandoned her by the roadside, near a dustbin. In a report, they also talked about the feeble condition of the infant. Soon, a local NGO and government officials took action and rescued the child. The child was Dishani.
- When Mithun Chakraborty came across the news of the abandoned child, he decided to adopt the child. His wife, Yogeeta, too backed him at his decision. After all the legal paperwork, they finally adopted her and named her Dishani.
