Irmelin Indenbirken DiCaprio is the mother of famous Hollywood actor Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio. She was born in Germany to a family of Dutch descent. Her parents were both from the Netherlands. Irmelin DiCaprio Is A Very Supportive Mother
Irmelin has always been a very supportive mother to her son, Leonardo DiCaprio. She has attended many of his movie premieres and award ceremonies over the years. In 2016, she even attended the Academy Awards with him when he was nominated for Best Actor for his role in The Revenant.
“My mom has been one of my biggest supporters,” DiCaprio said in an interview with Parade magazine in 1998. “She takes me to all my auditions and is always there for me.”
“I think that’s part of the reason why I’m doing what I’m doing today — because I had that support system at home,” he continued. “I was never pushed into this business. My mom always told me that I could do whatever I wanted with my life and that she would support me no matter what.”

Irmelin is a retired secretary. She worked as a secretary for several years before she decided to stay at home to raise her children.

Irmelin is of German descent. Her maiden name is Irmelin Indenbirken. She was born and raised in Germany before she moved to the United States.
“I’m half German, and my mom was born in Germany,” DiCaprio said in an interview with Parade magazine in 1998. “We used to go back every year to visit my grandparents.”
“My mom always taught me to be proud of my heritage,” he continued. “She instilled a lot of German values in me, like hard work and determination.”
Irmelin DiCaprio Is A Cancer Survivor
In 2001, Irmelin was diagnosed with cancer. She underwent treatment and is now in remission.
“My mom is a cancer survivor,” DiCaprio said in an interview with Parade magazine in 1998. “She was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago, but she’s doing fine now.”
“She’s always been a fighter,” he continued. “And she’s always been there for me, no matter what.”
Irmelin DiCaprio Is A Loving Wife And Mother
Irmelin is a loving wife and mother. She has been married to George DiCaprio since 1975. The couple has two children together, Leonardo and his sister, Connie.
