Priya Tendulkar was an Indian actress, social activist, and writer. She appeared in the popular Indian television serial “Hum Paanch” (1995); aired on Zee TV.

Priya Tendulkar was born on Tuesday, 19 October 1954 (age 47 years at the time of death), in Bombay. She did graduation in political science and had a diploma in painting.

Parents & Siblings

Her father, Vijay Tendulkar was a renowned Indian writer. Her mother’s name is Nirmala Tendulkar. Her brother, Raja Tendulkar was a cinematographer. She had two sisters, Tanuja Mohite and Sushma Tendulkar who was an actress too. Her father died in 2008, her mother passed away in 2001. Her brother, Raju left the world in 2002, and her sister, Sushma died in 2012.

Career

While she was in school, she played the role of a doll in the theatre play, Haya Vadan (1969) along with Kalpana Lajmi. At the age of 15, she appeared in a TV commercial of a sewing machine. In 1974, she debuted in the Bollywood film, ‘Ankur.’ She acted in various films, like ‘Minchina Ota’ (1980), ‘Nasoor’ (1985), ‘Besahara’ (1987), ‘Mohra’ (1994), ‘Trimurti’ (1995), and ‘Gupt’ (1997).

She gained immense popularity with the Doordarshan’s TV serial, ‘Rajani’ (1985).

She appeared in various Hindi TV serials, like ‘Yug’ (1996), ‘Itihaas’ (1996), ‘Hum Paanch’ (1995), and ‘Professor Pyarelal’ (1999).

Death

On 19 September 2002, she passed away due to heart attack at her Prabhadevi residence in Mumbai. She had aslo been suffering from breast cancer for a long time.
