Sumit Anand is a popular Indian stand-up comedian for his laid-back style of comedy. He is a bank manager-turned-stand-up comedian stand-up comedian who is known to leave his audience in fits of laughter.

Sumit Anand was born on Sunday, 15 September 1985 (age 35 years; as of 2020) in Rohtak, Haryana. He did his schooling from D.A.V. Centenary Public School, Rohtak, and he went on to pursue B.Tech. in Computer Science from Kurukshetra University (2002-2006). He then did PGDM in Marketing/Finance at Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management (2006-2008), New Delhi.

Career
Corporate Sector
Sumit worked as a Private Wealth Manager in HDFC Bank from June 2008 to August 2009 after completing his MBA. He then worked as a Portfolio Manager in IndusInd Bank from August 2009 to September 2010 in New Delhi. He was the General Manager in digital sales and marketing for PaGaLGuY.com (2010-2015), and then, he went on to work for Ideatory as a Business Consultant. He has been working with Ideatory since then.
Stand-up Comedy
Sumit started doing stand-up comedy in 2013. His first video on YouTube was titled ‘Dumb Indian Announcements,’ which has been removed. He has been regularly featured on NDTV Prime’s comedy show ‘The Rising Stars of Comedy,’ and Sumit is among the few Indian comics who have performed at Melbourne International Comedy Festival (twice) and Soho Theatre in London at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (world’s largest arts festival)
Sumit shot to fame after his video ‘My Job, My Home & The Maid’ went viral. The video has got more than 12 million views on YouTube.
Sumit has performed more than 100 shows all over India (as of 2020). Sumit collaborated with Abhishek Upmanyu, another popular Indian stand-up comic, on a special called “The Stupid Show.”
Sumit earned massive popularity through his solo shows “Many Mistakes Of My Life” and “Nothing About Godzilla,” and he often makes mocking remarks of Hollywood film Godzilla through his show “Nothing About Godzilla.”

- Sumit is known to be an occasional drinker.
- Since childhood, Sumit was interested in public speaking; however, he was not comfortable to speak in his native language, i.e., Haryanvi, while communicating with locals, and after getting himself established in the field of stand-up comedy, Sumit started quoting funny instances from his conversations that he had with people in his native place while growing up.
- Sumit in his blog (chantanand blog) shared a childhood story of how his name changed from ‘Amit’ to ‘Sumit.’ He changed his name because a tea vendor’s son near his house also had the same name.
- Sumit concedes of being anti-social and super lazy, but it seems to work for him in his laid-back style of comedy.
