Jim Ross (James William Ross) an American professional wrestling commentator as well as a talent relations executive. Jim Ross WWE
WWE ( World Wrestling Federation) hired Jim. He made his on-screen debut at WrestleMania IX. He had taken over for Gorilla Monsoon on WWF Wrestling Challenge. He worked alongside Bobby Heenan until Bobby lefty in December 1993. Jim originally worked as the main voice of the WWF’s pay-per-view events. He called on both WrestleMania IX and the King of the Ring alongside Heenan and Randy Savage in 1993.
Vince starting with SummerSlam 1993 took over his position at pay-per-views. Jim suggested the idea of Radio WWF to Vince. The idea was given a trial. Jim was made host alongside Monsoon. He was joined by co-hosts such as Johnny Polo in his role where they talked to various WWF wrestlers and fans. Jim and Gorilla called SummerSlam and Survivor Series at the end of 1993 as well as the Royal Rumble for Radio WWF.
Jim was fired on February 11, 1994. This was after suffering his first attack of Bell’s palsy on January 30, 1994. Jim subsequently became an announcer for Smoky Mountain Wrestling as well as the NFL’s Atlanta Falcon. Jim was reunited with former NWA/WCW announcer Bob Caudle in Smoky Mountain Wrestling.

He joined in the summer of 1996, the primary announcement team. Jim turned heel in September 1996 in WWF storylines for the first time in his career.
Scott Hall and Kevin Nash’s departed for World Championship Wrestling from WWF. With this Jim proclaimed on television that he was still in touch with Razor Ramon and Diesel (Hall and Nash’s WWF personas, respectively).
He claimed that he would bring them back to WWF soon. Jim was ordered to cease mentioning them on air and that they were under contract with “another organization”. I one of the episodes of Monday Night Raw, on September 23, 1996, Jim delivered a worked-shoot promo.
He ran down WWF Chairman Vince McMahon. He debuted his “new” Diesel and Razo. He claimed that while working in the WWF “front office” he had been the man responsible for so many people leaving the company as part of his “revenge” against the WWF for how they treated him in the past.
Jim portrayed himself to be bitter and spiteful while he was kept on air by Vince. He “New Diesel-New Razor” was poorly received by fans. Jim went on to host various WWF programs which include Shotgun Saturday Night, Superstars as well as Action Zone.
Jim took a break at the end of 1998 from Raw Is War. This was again due to another attack of Bell’s Palsy. Jim has been informed earlier in the days that his mum had died. Jim returned to Raw Is War on March 8, 1999, as part of a storyline alleging that Vince fired him because of his condition. Jim confronted his replacement, Michael Cole, in the ring. Despite the fact that Michael told him that he was not trying to steal his job, Jim kicked him in the crotch.
He attempted to return to the announce table. However, Terry Taylor ended up commentating for the rest of the night. This went very high as Jim set up his own announce table in front of the official announce table labeled “JR Is Raw”. Fans ended up cheering Ross and booing Cole. Jim was suspected of being intoxicated while hosting a WWE 2K14 roster announcement panel with guests on August 16, 2013. Jim officially announced his “retirement” from WWE on September 11, 2013.
The contract had expired and was not to be renewed. However, it was suspected that he was fired due to his actions at the roster announcement. Ross returned again to WWE on April 2, 2017. He provided commentary for the main event No Holds Barred match between The Undertaker and Roman Reigns. It was announced again that Jim had signed a two-year deal with the company. After electing not to renew his contract Jim left the WWE on March 27, 2019.

Jim enrolled at Westville High School where he used to play first base on the Westville baseball team. He also served as State Vice President of the Future Farmers of America. He was also State Speech Champion in 1968. Ric was present when Jim first met Jan who was a flight attendant on an airplane.
