Faris started off her career workibg with several communications-related works such as an operations position at Mills/James Productions in Columbus, Ohio. She then worked in radio sales until she started working as a production assistant at WKEF/WRGT.
Back in 2002, Faris began working as the weekend sports anchor and weekday sports anchor with WCPO-TV in Cincinnati up ot 2005 when her contract ended. She then become a sports reporter and anchor at the NBC affiliate WMAQ-TV in Chicago as of November 2005 to December 2011.
