Laurence Fox an English actor, singer-songwriter and guitarist known for portraying DS James Hathaway in the British TV drama series ”Lewis”.

Laurence was born on 26 May 1978, in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England.

Royal Academy of Dramatic Art

He worked as a gardener for two years and served as an office worker. Later discovered that he enjoyed acting and enrolled at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). He performed in several theater productions during his time there, including Gregers Werle’s leading roles in The Wild Duck by Ibsen, Marcus Andronicus in Titus Andronicus, and Stephen Daedalus in an adaptation of Ulysses ‘ novel by James Joyce. One of these was his first break into the film – the 2001 horror-thriller The Hole.

Fox followed up The Hole by appearing in Robert Altman’s 2001 Academy Award-winning film Gosford Park. He then had roles including as a German airman in Island at War (2004), an SS officer in The Last Drop (2005), and as British soldiers in the 2002 films Deathwatch and Ultimate Force, and in Colditz (2005).

Laurence Fox Education

Fox enrolled in Harrow School at the age of thirteen. He was suspended a few weeks before his A-levels. He went back to take the exams. Fox did well in his A-level examinations. However, he was unable to obtain a place at any university because of his report from Harrow.

The director Edward Fox and the theater and film producer Robert Fox are his uncles. His first cousins are the actors Emilia and Freddie Fox, Edward Fox’s sons. Fox is also the brother-in-law of Richard Ayoade.
