  • Puja lost her father, Yashpal Sharma on 13 July 2021. He was 66 years old at the time of his death. His last rites took place at the Lodhi cremation ground in New Delhi. Sharma’s former teammates like Madan Lal and Chetan Sharma attended his funeral.
  • Puja’s father, Yashpal Sharma, was a vital member of the 1983 World Cup-winning Indian cricket team. He was one of the nine cricketers who played in all eight matches in the World Cup. In 2021, a Hindi-language sports film titled ’83’ was released which depicts the story of India’s incredible Cricket World Cup victory that happened in 1983. Yashpal’s role in the film was played by Jatin Sarna (actor).
  • Her father was also a member of the national selection committee that selected the 2011 Indian team that won the World Cup.
