Indravathi Chauhan is an Indian playback singer, who is known for her sensational songs predominantly in the Telugu film industry. She became the internet sensation after singing the blockbuster item song “Oo Antava Mava Oo Antava” for the movie Pushpa: The Rise (2021).

Indravathi Chauhan was born in 2000 (age 21 years; as of 2021) in Gooty, district Anantpur, Andhra Pradesh. She comes from the Banjara community, which prefers marrying girls by the age of 12 and expects them to birth a son. She hails from a very humble background and once had a house with no bathrooms, which is why they had to go to their neighbours’ house for bathing. She has never taken professional training for singing and has done her diploma from Sri Venkateswara College in Anantapur.

Parents & Siblings
Not much is known about her parents. She has 2 sisters and her elder sister, Satyavathi Rathod better known as Mangli, is also a famous Indian playback singer and anchor. Mangli has sung the Kannada version of Indravti’s song “Oo Antava Mava Oo Antava”. She also has a brother, Shiva.
Career
Although Indravathi does not have a classical singing background, she appeared on a show based on folk singers which was hosted by her sister Mangali. When music director, Devi Sri Prasad (also known as DSP) was looking for a fresh voice for the song “Oo Antava Mava Oo Antava”, Indravathi sent her video of singing on the show as her audition clip. She was selected and asked to give a voice test. This is how she bagged the hit dance number “Oo Antava Mava Oo Antava” in 2021.
Indravathi has also sung songs like ‘Jaji Mogulali’ (2019) for George Reddy, ‘Gandhasiri Vanamali’ (2021), ‘Mai Sadke Jaun’ (2021), and Chhuwan (2022). She also appeared as one of the jury members on ‘Bol Baby Bol’ (musical game show).
Talking about her hit song ‘Oo Antava’, Indravathi says,
My joy knew no bounds when I learned that I was finalised for the song. Devi Sri Prasad sir patiently taught me to sing each and every line and got the best out of me. I’m ever grateful to the entire Pushpa team for this opportunity.”
Even Devi Sri Prasad (music director) gave due credit to Indravathi Chauhan, for the success of the song and said,
She did exactly what I wanted her to do — she was a very quick learner — and here we are today.”
