Controversies
He has many controversies to his name. Some of his most talked-about controversies are-
Setting Dawood’s Car on Fire
On 9 December 2015, Swami Chakrapani bought a Hyundai Accent car for Rs. 32000 at an auction. The car was earlier owned by the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. Initially, he wanted to turn the car into an ambulance, but the car was in a poor state. He even received threat calls from Dawood Ibrahim’s D-Company after which Swami decided to use the parts of the car in making toilets. After continuous threat calls from D-Company, Swami asked the Indian government for security. On 24 December 2015, Swami, along with a few other people, burnt the car publicly in Ghaziabad.
Remarks Over Kerala Flood Victims
During the floods in Kerala in 2018, Swami opposed helping the people who ate beef. While talking to the reporters, Swami said,
I am also appealing for help in Kerala. But help should be given to those who respect nature and creatures. When roti was available to people in Kerala, they were slaughtering the cow to eat her meat. So, what I mean is that Hindus should provide help to those who avoid cow meat, those who are trying to hurt the Hindu religion by deliberating eating cow and slaughtering her on the road should not be forgiven. People who eat beef should not receive any help. If they have to be provided for help, they should be asked to sign a pledge that they would never eat beef in the future.”
His remarks were not well received by a certain section of society. Later, the official website of Hindu Mahasabha was hacked, and a recipe of spicy beef curry was uploaded on it.
Listed as Fake Baba
In 2018, the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad issued a list of fake babas in which Chakrapani’s name was also there. Later, Swami sent a defamation notice of Rs. 11 crores against three office bearers of Akhara Parishad including Mahant Narendra Giri, the president of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad.
Gaumutra Party
During the initial stage of the COVID-19 pandemic in India, Swami made a statement in the media that the virus was an avatar to punish the non-vegetarians. He then suggested that the solution to the problem was to drink gaumutra (cow’s urine). He even hosted a gaumutra party in which a large number of people participated. While some people made fun of his suggestion, others criticised him for passing such a lame statement.
