During her tenure in the company, Swapna Suresh conspired with an airport staff member in a sexual harassment case with the assistance of some senior executives of the organization by creating the fake signatures of 17 women staff employees. Soon this staff person lodged a police complaint against Swapna Suresh; however, her influence stopped the investigation. She then joined the UAE Consulate branch of the Kerala state as a secretary of the Consulate General in 2016. During her tenure in the organization, she made some links in social, bureaucratic, and political circles by introducing herself as a diplomat. Reportedly, the same office a year ago suspended her due to her involvement in a criminal case. Later, a senior IAS officer and IT secretary of Kerala, M Sivasankar, recommended Swapna Suresh to Kerala State Information Technology Infrastructure Limited (KSITIL) and appointed her as a marketing executive in the organization. In 2020, Swapna Suresh was accused in the 2020 Kerala gold smuggling case by the Enforcement Directorate of India along with Sarith Kumar, Fazil Farid, Sandeep Nair, M.Sivasankar, and Rashed Khamis Ali Musaiqri Alshemeli. M Sivasankar was also suspended from the ministry due to his connections with Swapna Suresh. The investigation team revealed that M Sivasankar appointed her as a temporary contractual employee at PricewaterhouseCoopers with fake educational documents. Soon, a police investigation was started by KSITIL to pursue an investigation against PwC for designating her. KSITIL officials declared,
Suresh, a graduate, was qualified for the job, her brother living abroad told the media she hadn’t even completed the state school board exam. One of her former colleagues at a travel agency also doubted about her qualification, saying she had completed only Class XII.”
In this probe, it was disclosed that some financial discrepancies were also initiated by her in an apartment construction project in Vadakanchery. However, Swapna Suresh was granted bail on 5 October 2020. The Enforcement Directorate of India investigated Anil Nambiar, a TV journalist and coordinating editor of Janam TV, in the 2020 Kerala gold smuggling case as he was in contact with Swapna Suresh when the smuggled gold was captured by the Customs on 5 July 2020.
