Abhijeet Khandkekar is an Indian television and film actor. He is famous for his roles in the Marathi TV shows Maziya Priyala Preet Kalena (2010) and Mazhya Navryachi Bayko (2016).

Abhijeet Khandkekar was born on Monday, 7 July 1986 (age 36 years; as of 2023) in Pune, Maharashtra. He had a keen interest in anchoring, which led him to a job as a Radio Jockey at Radio Mirchi in 2006. He worked as RJ for one year, and later, he started acting in Marathi films and television serials.

Career

Television

In 2009, Abhijeet participated in a reality show, Maharashtracha Superstar, on Zee Marathi. He hosted the same show in 2020. He appeared as Abhijeet Pendse in the famous show Maziya Priyala Preet Kalena, created by Ekta Kapoor and was broadcasted from 2010 to 2011 on Zee Marathi. He played the main lead Gurunath Vasant Subhedar in one of the top five Marathi shows of 2016, Majhya Navaryachi Bayko, which ran for almost four years. He hosted Zee Marathi Utsav Natyancha Award in 2018 and 2019. In May 2022, he appeared as Lavdya Malhar Kamat, the main lead of the Star Pravah’s show Tuzech Mi Geet Gaat Aahe.

Film

Abhijeet made his debut in the film industry with the Marathi film Jai Maharashtra Dhaba Bhatinda as Sayaji Nimbalkar in 2013. He was the main lead in the film Mamachya Gavala Jaaoo Yaa, which was released in 2014. He did the Marathi political drama film named Dhol Taashe in 2015. In 2017, he appeared as Sameer Karandikar in a film, Dhyanimani. He worked in a movie, Baba (2019), the first-ever Marathi film produced by the Indian actor Sanjay Dutt‘s production house. He has appeared in many Marathi films like Bhay (2018), Me Pan Sachin (2019), and Dharmaveer (2022). He is also known for his work in the Marathi film Baal Bhaarti (2022).

Abhijeet acted in an MX Player’s series, Idiot Box, in a supporting role that was premiered in 2020. He was the host of the Marathi crime-thriller TV series Criminals: Chahul Gunhegaranchi, 2021 to 2022 on SonyLIV. He also did a TV series titled Soppa Nasta Kahi on Planet Marathi in 2021. He did a Hindi web series, Duranga, on ZEE5 in 2022; the series is the Hindi version of the Korean drama Flower of Evil.
