Abu Hafs al-Hashimi al-Qurashi was born in Middle-East Asia (also known as the Arab region). He joined ISIS after Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s call for Mulsim scholars to join ISIS to fight against the U.S.A. He later became one of the top leaders of ISIS. Before joining ISIS, he was an Imam in a mosque.

Appointment as Fifth ISIS Caliph
On 27 July 2023, Abu Hafs al-Hashimi al-Qurashi was appointed as the fifth Caliph (Head) of ISIS after its fourth Caliph, Abu Hussein al-Qurashi, was killed during clashes in Syria’s Idlib province. Al-Furqan, the media arm of the Islamic State’s (ISIS) Central Command released a 13 minutes audio message by the group’s new Spokesman, Abu Hodhayfa Al-Ansari, who announced al-Qurashi’s appointment. Al-Ansari announced that ISIS’s Shura Council chose al-Qurasi as the fifth head in its meeting. He later said that al-Qurashi is a wise and resourceful leader who has fought against the Crusaders and urged the ISIS fighters to follow his commands. He said,
He accepted the pledge and raised the flag to start the march immediately, overseeing his duties. Oh Soldiers of the Caliphate in all provinces, rush to pledge allegiance [to the Caliph]”
