Adeel Akhtar is a British actor known for his comedic and dramatic roles. He was born in London, to a Pakistani father and a Kenyan mother. They met at Heathrow airport, where they both worked for a while. When Akhtar was young, the family settled in a village in Buckinghamshire, around 20 miles west of central London. Adeel appeared as Billy in the BBC Three series, Back to Life, in 2019. He is also best known for working in movies Let’s Roll: The Story of Flight 93, Traitor, Four Lions, Stranger Things and many more.
He won the British Academy Television Award for Best Actor for his role in Murdered by My Father, in 2017. He was also nominated for a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor for his role on Channel 4’s Utopia, as well as a British Academy Film Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role for Ali & Ava.

In 2017, Akhtar made history as the first non-white actor to win the BAFTA for Lead Actor for his role in Murdered by My Father. He also appeared in the American romantic comedy film The Big Sick as the protagonist’s brother, Naveed.
