Amber Heard is an American actress. She made her film debut in 2004 in the sports drama Friday Night Lights, starring Billy Bob Thornton. Her breakout role came in 2008 with the semi-biographical sports drama Never Back Down, after which she featured in films such as Zombieland and The Joneses.

Heard’s most acclaimed role to date has been in the 2016 film The Danish Girl, in which she played Gerda Wegener, the wife of transgender pioneer Lili Elbe. The film garnered critical acclaim and Heard received a Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture nomination for her performance. She has also appeared in such films as Drive Angry, Machete Kills, The Rum Diary, Paranoia, 3 Days to Kill, Magic Mike XXL, and The Adderall Diaries.

On television, Heard starred in The CW’s teen drama series Hidden Palms as Greta Matthews from 2007 to 2008. She subsequently had a leading role in the short-lived NBC comedy-drama series The Playboy Club (2011) and joined the cast of Showtime’s comedy-drama series Californication for the seventh season in 2014. In 2015, she guest starred on an episode of CBS’s legal drama The Good Wife.

Amber Laura Heard was born on April 22, 1986, in Austin, Texas, to Patricia Paige (née Parsons), an internet researcher, and David Clinton Heard, a contractor.
