Amit Mistry was an Indian actor, writer, and director. He is well known for playing the role of Devendra Rathod in the 2020 Amazon Prime Original web-series, ‘Bandish Bandits.’ He died of a heart attack on 23 April 2021.

Amit started his career as an actor in Hindi and Gujarati films. He also worked in many theatre plays.

In 2000, he debuted in the Hindi film ‘Kya Kehna’ in which he played the role of Preity Zinta’s brother.
He played supporting roles in various Bollywood films, like ‘Ek Chalis Ki Last Local’ (2007), ‘Shor in the City’ (2010), ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ (2011), ‘Bey Yaar’ (2014), and ‘A Gentleman’ (2017). He has worked as a dialogue writer for the Hindi film, ‘What’s Your Raashee?’ (2009). He has also directed a short film, ‘Two Cubes Pls’ (2013). He has also acted in various Hindi TV serials, like ‘Who’ (1998), ‘Dafa 420’ (2015), ‘Saat Phero Ki Hera Pherie’ (2018), and ‘Tenali Rama’ (2020).

Death
On 23 April 2021, he died of a heart attack at his residence in Mumbai. While reacting over his sudden demise, his manager Maharshi Desai said,
I am in complete shock myself. He was all well and was at his home only. He didn’t even complain of any health issue. Post breakfast he felt an ache in his heart and it was a heart attack and his family couldn’t even take him to the hospital. It is a big loss for the entertainment industry to lose an actor like him and I will miss working with him.”

- In an interview, when he was asked what was his reaction to being a part of Sony SAB’s show Tenali Rama (2020), he said,
I have never been a part of a historical show and I always fascinated about playing a role like Birbal. Although working in television is a little hectic, it is indeed fun to work in a show like Tenali Rama. I am also personally fond of the team of Contiloe Pictures. When I was approached for the role of Birbal, I was very happy and I immediately said yes for the role. I was sent a rehearsal speech and when I read that, I enjoyed it and I thought Birbal’s character will come easily to me.
