Career
Amit Tandon worked in the corporate sector before turning into a stand-up comedian. In 2006, he worked as a managing director and CEO at Empyrean Partners for eleven years. In 2012, Amit founded Grandmasters of Comedy, a company that focused on bringing comedy to the corporate area. Later, he began performing stand-up comedy related to day-to-day life which was well received by the audience. He is known by his stage name ‘The Married Guy.’ Amit has performed his comedy shows all over the globe. He has brought a comedy face-off show of Singapore named ‘Fight Comic to India.’ In 2014, he hosted Doordarshan’s show named ‘New Year Show.’ Amit Tandon made his television debut with the show ‘CEO’s Got Talent’ (2014) which aired on CNBC TV18.
In 2016, he made his YouTube debut with the video titled ‘Punjabi Family Problems,’ the video went viral and made Amit a star overnight. He then appeared in comedy series like ‘Comedy Dangal’ (2018) and ‘Comedians of the World’ (2019). In 2020, he performed solo in a Netflix show called ‘Family Tandoncies.’ Later, he appeared in shows including ‘Chalo Koi Baat Nahi’ (2021), and ‘Comedy Premium League’ (2021). In 2022, Amit hosted a comedy show named ‘Good Night India,’ which aired on Sony SAB. The show aimed to provide a clean and stress-relief comedy genre for the audience. In an interview, Amit discussed bringing an old-school comedy back in the trend that can be enjoyed by the entire family together without any awkward content. He said,
Delighted to start this journey. There is a huge market in our country which craves clean comedy. Something that they can enjoy with their families without having to worry about jokes that have the potential to drive an awkward vibe within their living rooms.”
In 2023, he performed an international tour of his YouTube series called ‘Masala Sandwich.’ In the same year, he performed in a comedy series named ‘Humare Zamane Mein.’
