Career

At the age of 20, Amit spent a lot of time at her cousin’s salon and that’s where he got inspired to become a hairstylist. Amit Thakur’s first breakthrough was when he styled Bollywood actor Huma Qureshi’s hair; he styled her hair for public events including magazine photoshoots and film promotions.

Amit was 21 years old when he bagged his first opportunity to showcase his talent at a fashion week.

Later, Amit Thakur went on to become one of the most popular hairstylists in India, and he showcased his hairstyling skills at various performances, brand endorsements, and events such as IIFA, Filmfare, and Stardust Awards. His work has been featured in many popular magazines including Vogue India, Harpers Bazaar, Elle, Cosmopolitan, Vogue Italia, and Femina.

In 2018, he styled Deepika Padukone‘s looks for the film Padmavat. Amit styled Katrina Kaif during the promotions of Hindi films Bharat (2019) and Sooryavanshi (2021).

He also played an important part in Katrina Kaif’s wedding looks in 2021.

In 2018, he also styled Ananya Pandey for the ONLY India campaign. The celebrity hair artist has worked with many Bollywood celebrities including Alia Bhatt, Taapsee Pannu, Anushka Sharma, and Shraddha Kapoor.

Apart from this, Amit is the founder of Mane Masters Hair Academy where he provides training to aspiring hair artists. He has a salon named Manemaniac Hair Studio in Mumbai, which he co-founded with Amit Yashwant, who is also a hairstylist.

Deepika Padukone’s 2017 Drug Chat 

In 2017, Amit Thakur was mentioned in one of Deepika Padukone‘s leaked chats, regarding drugs, with her manager Karishma Prakash. During a telephonic conversation initiated by a reporter, Amit initially confirmed it was him, but on being asked if he was associated with Deepika Padukone’s chat, he denied it and said,

It is a wrong number, I don’t know which Amit you are talking about. You are talking to the wrong person.’
