Sanders began her career at SAS-7 in Adelaide, South Australia working as a weather presenter and later relocated to Seven Perth. While working there she earned two consecutive (1981/1982) Logie Awards for Most Popular Female Personality in Western Australia. She then relocated to Sydney in 1983 and joined the Network Ten working as a consumer reporter and news presenter before she got back to the Seven Network as a news presenter in 1988.
She then joined the national morning news program at 11 AM in 1990 and toured Chernobyl, where he repors on the radiation fall-out disaster. She later joined Seven News Sydney back in 1995, before being joined by Ross Symonds back in 1998 when she moved to weekends in 2004. She worked up to May 2006 when she swapped roles along with Chris Bath to present Seven Morning News.
She previously served as a presenter for hourly news updates on The Morning Show with Kylie Gillies and Larry Emdur as of 2007 until 2015. She later got replaced by Ryan Phelan since she had taken over on Seven Afternoon News. She as well serves as a fill-in Presenter for Seven News Sydney. She as well hosted the national Seven Afternoon News bulletin at 4 pm, before it was replaced by state-based bulletins in 2017.
