International Matches
Aslam Thambi started playing Kabaddi professionally in 2013. Despite the sport being less popular in Sri Lanka than in India, he continued with it. He represented the Lankan Lions at the 2016 Asian Junior Kabaddi Championship in Iran and won a bronze medal, gaining recognition on the global stage. In 2021, as a vice-captain of the Sri Lankan Kabaddi team, he received the Bangabandhu Cup after winning the Bangabandhu Cup Kabaddi tournaments held in Dhaka.
In March 2023, Aslam Thambi won the ‘Man Of The Match’ title during the Sri Lanka vs Chinese Taipei series during the Bangabandhu Cup 2023, an international Kabaddi tournament held in Bangladesh.
Pro Kabaddi League (PKL)
In 2022, the Bengal Warriors team of the Pro Kabaddi League bought him for Rs. 10 Lakhs. In the tenth season of the Pro Kabaddi League in 2023, Aslam Thambi played as a raider for the Bengal Warriors team, coached by Kasinatha Baskaran.
