Bill Buckner was an American first baseman and left fielder in Major League Baseball (MLB). He was well known for playing for five teams from 1969 through 1990, most notably the Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox. Buckner started all 162 games and shattered his own record with 184 assists, during the 1985 season. Despite not playing first base regularly until he was 27 years old, Buckner retired with the fourth-most assists by a first baseman in major league history.
