Dan Schiff was born in Framingham, Massachusetts, the son of Edward and Sherrill Ann (née Glovsky) Schiff. He was raised in a Jewish family that, according to his brother Adam’s 23 January 2024 statement, “came fleeing the Holocaust.”
He moved with his parents to Scottsdale, Arizona, in 1970 and Alamo, California, in 1972. He graduated from Monte Vista High School in Danville, California, in 1978, where he played soccer and was both the class salutatorian and the student his peers voted “most likely to succeed”.
