DMX (Earl Simmons) an American rapper and actor from Mount Vernon, New York, most known for his rapping which he began in the early 90s. His debut album, It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot was released in 1998 and its was quite successful commercially. In 1999, he released another album And Then There Was X and it became his best-selling album.

DMX Career
As of 2019, he has seven studio albums to his name. He has also been in films like Belly, Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, Cradle 2 the Grave and Last Hour. He published his memoirs book in 2003 titled, E.A.R.L.: The Autobiography of DMX. He starred in the reality television series DMX: Soul of a Man, in 2006 as it aired on the BET cable television network.
DMX Dead
Simmons is alive but has had a few near-death incidents that leave many wondering whether he is still alive. He was once found lifeless in 2016 in a parking lot in his hometown but was resuscitated by first responders.
DMX Family
Simmons was born to Arnett Simmons (19 years old at the time) and Joe Barker (18 years old at the time) , his mother, Simmons is the second child after his 2-years-older sister, Bonita. He also has another sister, a younger one by the name Shayla. He is the first and only child of Arnett Simmons and Joe Barker. Barker did not want Simmons to keep her son, and hence, he cut off almost all contact with the family as soon as Earl was born.
Earl suffered from bronchial asthma when he was a child, much that he was rushed to the emergency room so often due to him waking up unable to breathe almost every night. He also had a rough childhood with him being beaten by his mother and her various boyfriends so badly he lost teeth, and sustained numerous bruises and cuts on his face.
He was kicked out of school after fifth grade and lived at the Julia Dyckman Andrus Children’s Home for 18 months. At 14, he began wandering the streets to keep off from his mother and found comfort in befriending stray dogs on the streets at night. His mother found him and sent him to a boys’ home where he bonded with others from New York over their shared love of hip-hop music. he performed for them and they encouraged to continue writing music to the behest of his teacher.
He met a local rapper by the name Ready Ron when he went back home and he asked Simmons to be his partner after being impressed by his beatboxing skills. Simmons chose his stage name “DMX” then from an instrument at the boys’ home, the Oberheim DMX drum machine: it later was also interpreted as “Dark Man X”.
DMX Wife
Simmons is unmarried but was previously married to his now ex-wife Tashera Simmons from 1999 to 2014. They were childhood friends who began dating when Tashera turned 18. She announced their separation in 2010 and she filed for divorce in 2012 and it was finalised in 2014. The rapper has 15 kids with only four of them being with Tashera.

Simmons has 15 children. His 15th child by the name Exodus Simmons was born to him by Desiree Lindstrom, his girlfriend, on August 16, 2016. With his ex-wife Tashera, he has four children, namely; Xavier Simmons, Tocoma Simmons, Shawn Simmons and Praise Mary Ella Simmons.

DMX Still In Jail
Simmons has had a couple of run-ins with the law that include child support payments and tax fraud, hence, he has been in and out of prison. His first arrest was in 1986 after he stole a dog from a junkyard, for which he served two years in the juvenile unit of Woodfield Prison in Valhalla, New York. His second time was in 1988 for carjacking. He served his time in a higher security prison and was released in the summer of 1988.
His most recent arrest and incarceration was in March 2018 when he was sentenced to one year in prison followed by three years of supervised release. He was released from prison on January 25, 2019.
