Dolly Singh was born in 1993 (age 27 years; as in 2020), and she hails from Nainital in Uttarakhand, India. She pursued Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in political science at Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi. Thereafter, she appeared in the NIFT exam and got herself admitted in the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi, where she pursued her master’s degree in Fashion Management.

Career
In 2015, while pursuing her master’s degree, she started her fashion blog, Spill The Sass. She set new fashion trends by posting pictures, budget styling videos, various clothing hacks, accessory, apparel shopping videos etc., on various social media platforms. On 17 April 2016, she started her own YouTube channel.
As a part of her graduation project, Dolly Singh did an internship with iDiva, an online portal for women that offers a vast range of women-centric content. Post the completion of her internship, iDiva offered her the job of a content writer. Back then, Facebook had given iDiva a contract for making videos. As the company was short of actors, all the employees working in iDiva pitched in for multi-tasking. Dolly started off with being a producer and writer, but eventually, she ended up as an actor. In 2017, Santu Misra, the director of iDiva, came up with the idea of making videos about stereotypical ‘South Delhi Girls.’ Dolly Singh, along with her co-actress Kusha Kapila, starred in the video series and gained immense popularity. iDiva- Types Of South Delhi Girls: Part 1, marked the beginning of Dolly’s successful career as a YouTuber. Later, she featured in various other videos of iDiva.
After the success of ‘South Delhi Girls’ series, there was no looking back for Dolly. Thereafter, she came up with various other characters in her videos, such as ‘Zeenat,’ ‘Mrs. Kapoor,’ ‘Natasha,’ ‘Reckless Renu,’ ‘Guddi Bhabi,’ ‘Bubbly,’ etc.

- Dolly comes from a humble background and had a tough childhood. In an Instagram post, she revealed that she used to live in a small house in Nainital, and she could barely afford any toys. Throughout the day, her parents would work in their gift shop, Apna Baazar, and she would take care of her brother at home. In 2019, she uploaded a video on her YouTube channel, ‘My Real House Tour,’ showcasing her parent’s house in Nainital. The video is purely raw, without any editing, and it was much loved by her fans for exhibiting reality.
- During her school days, Dolly Singh was bullied for being skinny and having a dark complexion. In a YouTube video, the fashion blogger confessed that her schoolmates would call her ‘kaali ladki,’ ‘Sukhi Dandi,’ or ‘bag of bones.’ Not only was she humiliated by her fellow students, but she was also disgraced by her teachers for not belonging to an upper-class society. In an interview, she narrated an incident where she wasn’t allowed to attend a farewell party and sent back home, just because her outfit didn’t comply with the dress code of the party.
- After completing her graduation, Dolly took a gap year to appear in the CAT exam, an entrance test for MBA. To her utter disappointment, she couldn’t taste success in it. Thereafter, she went on to appear in the NIFT exam. Not only did she qualify the exam but also scored an all India rank 3, and she was admitted in National Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi.
