Drew Hicks is an Indian American content creator and YouTuber who became popular after his Hindi-speaking video went viral on social media in 2023.

Drew Hicks was born in Florida, America. After completing his school education, he went to St. Petersburg College in Florida to pursue his graduation. Drew’s family moved to India when he was five years old, and he spent eleven years of his childhood in various places across India including Varanasi, where his parents studied Hindi at Banaras Hindu University.

Once, he told in a media interview that because of his father’s export business in India, they moved to Bihar where his father got interested in Madhubani paintings. He added that he learned Hindi during his time in India and considers many places in India as close to his heart. He said,
India has a diverse range of landscapes, cities, and people, making it hard for me to choose a favourite place. However, I do have a few favourites such as Kedarnath for its scenic beauty and mountains, Jaisalmer for its deserts and architecture, Goa for its beaches, and Delhi for its parties.”

Career
After completing his formal education, Drew Hicks shifted to Thailand from America and began working for an online company. Thereafter, he started working part-time as a content creator, collaborating with other YouTubers including Yachen Lee from Korea in 2019. Yachen Lee is known for his Bihari-Hindi accent and Korean appearance. Drew Hicks started a podcast in Hindi with Yachen Lee in 2022.

Soon, Drew’s ability to speak Hindi and Bhojpuri fluently earned attention on social media. After Drew Hicks got married, he started teaching his wife Hindi and recorded their learning journey in different videos on various social media platforms.
