Diplomat
Indian Foreign Service (IFS)
In 2005, she joined the Ministry of External Affairs. In August 2008, she was appointed as Second Secretary at the Embassy of India in Argentina. In January 2021, she began to serve as Joint Secretary at the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. Later, she was appointed as Under Secretary at the Ministry of External Affairs in Delhi. While working as Under Secretary, she dealt with issues related to India’s neighbouring countries, especially Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran.
United Nations
She works as a counsellor at the Permanent Mission of India to the UN in New York. As the counsellor, she represents India in the topics related to security council reform, counter-terrorism, cyber security issues, and security council (regional issues). She has also worked on UN economic and social issues during her probation period in New Delhi in 2007. She also holds the position of Senior Adviser on Peace and Security matters in the Office of the President of the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. In September 2016, she gained significant recognition in Indian media when she criticized Pakistan’s actions during her speech at the United Nations Assembly. She specifically targeted Pakistan’s alleged support for terrorism in her remarks. She said,
The land of Taxila, one of the greatest learning centres of ancient times, is now host to the Ivy League of terrorism. It attracts aspirants and apprentices from all over the world. The effect of its toxic curriculum are felt across the globe.”

She is the Joint Secretary of G20 and co-chairperson of the G20 Development Working Group. She played a key role in managing matters related to G20.

- She is fluent in Hindi, English, and Spanish and likes to write poetry in all three languages.

- In December 2017, two men riding on a bike snatched her phone when she was out for a post-dinner walk at night in Rohini, Delhi. Later, a case was filed at the Rohini North police station against the two unidentified men.
