Fathima Babu was born in a Malayalam Muslim family on 6 August 1968 (age: 50 years, as in 2018) in Puducherry, India.
She received her education from Bharathidasan Govt. College for Women, Pondicherry and holds a degree in journalism.

Career
Before being an actress, Fathima Babu was a newsreader for DD Podhigai, a Tamil Version of Doordarshan. She made her acting debut with a Tamil film, Kalki (1996).
She made her Malayalam film debut with the film, Ravanaprabhu (2001). In 2008, she made her Telugu film debut with the film, Kathanayakudu. Apart from it, she has acted in many films including Ulavuthurai (1998), Ninaivirukkum Varai (1999), Mugavaree (2000), Minnale (2001), Alli Arjuna (2002), Manasantha (2003), Indru (2003), Kannadi Pookal (2005), Ali Bhai (2007), Adavadi (2007), My Big Father (2009), Namma Gramam (2012), The King & the Commissioner (2012), Nee Naan Nizhal (2014), Asha Black (2014), etc.
Apart from films, she has also worked in TV serials and shows including Swami Ayyappan (2006), Makkal (2018), Yaaradi Nee Mohini (2017), Genes (2018), Bigg Boss Tamil (2019), etc.
