Hanuman Beniwal was born on Thursday, 2 March 1972 (age 51 years; as of 2023) in Village Barangaon, district Nagaur, Rajasthan. His zodiac sign is Pisces. He earned a bachelor’s degree in arts from Rajasthan University in 1993. In 1998, he completed his L.L.B. at Rajasthan University.

Career

In 1994 and 1995, Hanuman Beniwal served as the President of Rajasthan College and Rajasthan Law College, respectively. He was then elected as the President of Rajasthan University in 1997. In 2003, Beniwal contested as an independent candidate for the Mundwa constituency in Rajasthan’s assembly elections but lost by a margin of 2,000 votes.

Hanuman Beniwal is a prominent farming leader in Nagaur. In 2008, he contested the assembly elections from the Khinvsar constituency on the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ticket and won by defeating his opponent from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) by a margin of 24,443 votes. However, in 2011, Beniwal was suspended from the BJP after accusing some of its leaders, including Vasundhara Raje and Rajendra Rathore, of corruption in Rajasthan during an event at Maharani Girls College. He claimed that Raje was involved in corruption and challenged then Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to take action.

After his suspension from the BJP, Beniwal organized five big ‘Kisan Hunkar Maha Rallies’ in Nagaur, Barmer, Bikaner, Sikar, and Jaipur districts of Rajasthan. In 2013, he contested the assembly elections as an Independent candidate from the same constituency and won by defeating his BJP rival by 23,020 votes. On 29 October 2018, Beniwal formed his own political party, Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP), with an election symbol of “Bottle” in Jaipur. In the same year, he won the MLA seat from the Khinvsar constituency for the third time as a candidate of his own party, RLP, by defeating his Indian National Congress opponent, Savai Singh Choudhary, by 66148 votes.

He then became a Member of Parliament in the 17th Lok Sabha from Rajasthan’s Nagaur constituency in May 2019 after RLP joined hands with BJP in Rajasthan.

In 2020, Beniwal resigned from three parliamentary committees namely industries, petroleum and natural gas, and petitions, to show support for the farmers who were protesting against the government’s new farming laws.

Beniwal Accused BJP Politicians of Corruption and Faced Suspension

In 2011, Beniwal accused some BJP politicians of corruption and their connections to Congress leaders, resulting in his suspension from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Clashes Erupted as Police Confront Hanuman Beniwal Supporters in 2015 Protest

In 2015, students rallying in support of Hanuman Beniwal were confronted aggressively by the police, leading to a protest by the National Students Union of India (NSUI) at Rajasthan University. The protest turned violent, resulting in clashes and around 30 students and 18 policemen being injured. The NSUI demanded action against police brutality.

Beniwal Accused Rajasthan Minister of Aiding Alleged Gangster’s Escape

In September 2015, Hanuman Beniwal accused Yunus Khan, a cabinet minister of Rajasthan, of assisting alleged gangster Anandpal Singh in escaping police custody. According to Beniwal, Anandpal Singh supported Yunus Khan in winning the 2013 assembly election. Beniwal requested a CBI investigation into the matter.

Beniwal’s Protest in Rajasthan Assembly Over Question Disapproval

On 25 April 2017, Beniwal protested during a Rajasthan Assembly session when his questions were not allowed by speaker Kailash Meghwal because they were related to three different departments. Beniwal went to the front of the house and ripped his papers. Later, Parliament Affairs Minister Rajendra Rathore and the speaker criticized his actions.

• After Hanuman Beniwal became the President of Rajasthan University, he led a protest and was even arrested. He did all of this to make sure that rural students who wanted to go to schools would get 5% more marks.

• In 2019, prior to forming an alliance with the BJP, Hanuman Beniwal expressed his willingness to contest elections on all 25 seats in Rajasthan. It was also reported that RLP would form an alliance with other parties, excluding Congress and BJP. RLP was discussing partnerships with the Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and CPI(M). However, this alliance did not form, and Beniwal ultimately joined hands with the BJP.
