Joseph Manu James (1991-2023) was an Indian director. On 24 February 2023, Manu breathed his last at Rajagiri hospital in Kerala after undergoing treatment for pneumonia and hepatitis. He succumbed to death before the release of his directorial debut Malayalam film Nancy Rani (2023).

Manu James was born on Tuesday, 11 June 1991 (age 31 years; at the time of death) in Kottayam, Kerala, India. His zodiac sign was Gemini. Manu completed his schooling at the Labour India Gurukulam Public School in Marangattupilly, Kerala. He pursued his graduation at Mangalam College of Engineering, Ettumanoor. For further studies, Manu attended Christ University, Bengaluru. In 2020, he moved to Houston from Kerala, where he enrolled himself at the Stafford Campus at Houston Community College. Manu studied filmmaking at the University of Houston in Houston, Texas.

Career
In 2004, Manu began his career as a child artist with the Malayalam film I Am Curious, directed by Sabu James. Later, he went on to become an assistant director and assisted several film directors in the Kannada, Hindi, and Malayalam film industries. In 2014, Joseph worked for Reliance Entertainment, a media and entertainment company as an assistant director. In 2015, he left Reliance Entertainment and started working with MTV India as a field director, program presenter, and bass guitarist. In 2016, Joseph joined as a filmmaker at the Rockstar Film Company, based in the United States. Additionally, he served as a journalist at the Indo-American Press Club, which is a group of Indian-origin media journalists, who work in the United States, Canada, and Europe. In 2023, Joseph made his debut as a director with the Malayalam film Nancy Rani, starring Ahana Krishna, Dhruvan, Aju Varghese, and Lal.

Death
In February 2023, Joseph was admitted to the Rajagiri hospital in Kerala after being diagnosed with pneumonia. Reportedly, after undergoing treatment for pneumonia, he was diagnosed with hepatitis. Following the treatment, on 24 February 2023, Joseph Manu died of hepatitis. He was buried on 26 February 2023 at the Major Archiepiscopal Marth Mariam Archdeacon Church, Kuravilangad, Kerala.
