Katarzyna Lubnauer Career

Lubnauer worked for the Democratic Union in 1993 and the Freedom Union in 1994 where she was one of the party’s local leaders in Lodz. She was a member of the town council of Lodz from 1998 to 2002. She was one of the candidates for Freedom Union Head in Lodz in 2001. She was a member of Freedom Union’s last General Board and was one of Democratic Party’s newly reformed leaders in 2005 –demokraci.pl.

She was unsuccessfully in 2001 and 2005 for the Sejm election. In the Liberté, she published articles! One of the organizers of the Science, Technology and Arts Festival in Lodz was a magazine. She was one of the initiators of the Secular School campaign in 2015, together with Leszek Jażdżewski, which aimed to cut state funding for religious education classes in public schools across Poland.

She won a seat in the Sejm as a candidate of the Modern political party during the Polish parliamentary elections in 2015, running from the first position on the party’s election list in the Lodz electoral district. She has received 18,549 votes in total. She was appointed deputy party chairman in 2016, and she was the party’s spokesperson from January to May 2017.

She also assumed the position of chairman of the Modern Party’s parliamentary group in April of the same year. During the party congress in Warsaw on 25 November 2017, she was elected Modern Party leader defeating her original founder Ryszard Petru in a close vote. She was replaced on 9 January 2018 by Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz as the chair of the parliamentary group of the Modern Party.

Katarzyna was born to Zdzisława, a professor of microbiology, and Jerzy, a chemist, in Katarzyna Libudzisz. Her family had reside in Lodz.

Lubnauer enrolled and later graduated from High School No. 3 of Tadeusz Kościuszko in Lodz (Polish: III Liceum Ogólnokształcące I m. Tadeusza Kościuszki w Lodzi) and from the University of Lodz. She then worked as a school teacher for a short time before deciding to continue her studies at the University of Lodz where she became a lecturer at the Mathematics Faculty.

She later graduated in 2001 with a PhD in mathematics after she wrote her doctoral thesis in Quantum Probability entitled Limit Theorems. She later assumed the position of assistant professor in the Theory and Statistics Department of Probability.
