M. B. Shetty (1931-1982) was an Indian actor, film stuntman and action choreographer. He has acted in films such as Tumsa Nahin Dekha (1957), An Evening in Paris (1967), Kismat (1969), Victoria No. 203 (1972), Duniya Ka Mela (1974), and Aaj Ke Sholey (1985). He has worked as an action choreographer/stunt director for films such as Singapore (1960), China Town (1962), Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon (1963), Dost (1974), and Don (1978). M. B. Shetty passed away because of a serious fall at home that proved to be fatal.

M. B. Shetty, or Muddu Babu Shetty, was born on Thursday, 1 January 1931 (age 51 years; at the time of death) in Mangalore India. His zodiac sign is Capricorn. At the age of nine, Shetty’s father noticed his lack of interest in school studies. To prepare him for life’s challenges, Shetty’s father sent him to Mumbai, where he worked as a waiter at a Tata Company canteen. However, Shetty didn’t enjoy these ordinary jobs and disliked deskbound work. He found a passion for boxing and began training under K N Mendon, a renowned gymnast. With time and dedication, Shetty became a boxing champion and won tournaments for eight years. He came to be known as the undefeated boxing champion of Bombay. M.B. Shetty started his career as a body double for actors Pradeep Kumar and Premnath.

He met Ratna when she was a junior artist with whom he had daughters Chanda, Chaya and Mahek Shetty and a son, Rohit Shetty, who is now a film director in the Hindi film industry.

Fight Director

M. B. Shetty got his first stint as a fight director when veteran actor Pran recognised his talent and convinced director Subodh Mukherjee to give him a shot. His first job was on the set of Munimji (1955). M. B. Shetty has since worked as an action coordinator, fight composer, stunt coordinator, and stunt master in several upcoming films. in about 700 films. He has directed the stunts in films such as Ujala (1959), Singapore (1960), Junglee (1961), Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai (1961), April Fool (1964), Sawan Ki Ghata (1966), Brahmachari (1968), Pyar Hi Pyar (1969), Buddha Mil Gaya (1971), Victoria No, 203 (1972), Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973), Ganga Ki Saugand (1978), Bombay 405 Miles (1980), and Jail Yatra (1981).

As an actor, M. B. Shetty was well-loved for being a compelling villain. Shetty has worked in films such as Tumsa Nahin Dekha (1957) in which he played the role of Bhola, China Town (1962) where his character was Ching Lee, An Evening in Paris (1962) as Jaggu, and Pyaar Ka Mausam (1969), Kalicharan (1976) where he appeared as Shetty and made a big impact on the audience and Sangram (1976) where he played the role of Tiger.
