After school, Marietta worked at the Institute of Economics (IW) in Cologne from 1991 to 1996. She also started her journalism career in 1994 at the local newspaper Kölnische Rundschau.
As a television journalist, Slomka has worked for the German broadcaster ZDF since 1998. She worked as a journalist in Bonn and Germany between 1998 and 2000. Berlin.
