Minnu Mani is an Indian cricketer who has represented Kerala, South Zone, and various other teams in different tournaments. She was auctioned off to Delhi Capitals in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction in 2023.

Minnu Mani was born on Wednesday, 24 March 1999 (age 24 years; as of 2023) in Choyimoola in Wayanad, Kerala. Her zodiac sign is Aries. She played athletics and participated in 400 meters and 600 meters runs and started playing cricket with cousins and boys in the paddy fields at the age of 10. She attended Mananthavady Government Vocational Higher Secondary School, Idapaddi in 8th standard where she was encouraged by the physical education teacher Elsamma Baby to pursue a career in cricket.

Career

Her physical education teacher Elsamma took her to the trials of the Wayanad district under-13 team, and she later got selected for Kerala Cricket Association’s junior girl’s camp in Thodupuzha. She was selected for Kerala’s under-16 team at the age of 15 and was selected for the state’s senior team within a year. She played for India A and India Blue teams in BCCI’s ODI and T20 tournaments. She has also played for Falcon Heron Sports, the Wayanad team, Ajinas XI, and AJWA Super Kings. She played for South Zone in the inter-zonal competition. She trains at Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) Stadium in Krishnagiri, which is around 42 km away from her home. In the 2022 Women’s All-India One-day tournament, she emerged as the highest runscorer with 246 runs and took 12 wickets in 8 matches. In the 2023 auction of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), she was acquired by Delhi Capitals for Rs 30 lakhs against the base price of Rs 10 lakhs.

  • She is a left-handed batter and right-arm off-spinner.
  • She said after getting selected for Delhi Capitals in WPL that she wants to buy a scooter with the money and help her family.
  • She reconstructed her home which was destroyed majorly in the 2018 Kerala floods.
