Mitchell Geffen (born Mischa) Geffen (1933–2006) was an attorney who attended UCLA Law School and later settled in Encino, California. Mitchell Geffen fathered two daughters, who are David’s closest surviving relatives. Moving on, his brother, David Geffen during the month of February 2020, Geffen sold his Beverly Hills estate to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos for $165 million, an amount that is believed to have been the highest price ever paid for a Beverly Hills home in California. The Beverly Hills estate owned by Casey Wasserman was purchased by Geffen in June 2020 for $68 million.

Mitchell Geffen died due to natural reasons at the age of 73 on Aug. 1, 2006, of Amyloidosis of the heart.

After working as a talent agent at the William Morris Agency as well as later working at Ashley Famous Agency, David Geffen made his first steps in the entertainment industry. He founded Geffen Records and recruited Warner Bros. Records exec Ed Rosenblatt as president, in 1980. Geffen owned a Malibu compound on Carbon Beach, Until 2007. He donated $5 million towards UCLA’s Westwood Playhouse, in 1995. Geffen gave $150 million to the Yale School of Drama, in June 2021. In terms of net worth, Geffen is estimated to have a net worth of $10.8 billion. A total of $143.5 million was raised from the sale of two paintings by Jasper Johns, as well as a De Kooning from his collection, back in 2006.
Interesting to note, despite the fact that David’s yachts have been the source of much pollution, David Geffen has been ranked as the most polluting individual in the world and the most polluting individual in America.
