Mohammad Samad was born as Mohammad Abdul Samad on 7 May 2000 (age 18 years; as in 2018) in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India. He is fondly called Samu. His family was not financially sound due to which he had to face a lot of problems in his childhood. Before making his film debut, he didn’t know anything about acting. In one of his interviews, he even narrated the whole process of his selection for the role of Gattu in the National award-winning film, Gattu. Mohammad Samad said, “I didn’t know what acting was. I just auditioned for Gattu when the crew came to our school looking for children to act in the film. I was among the 20 children who were selected. Then the list was made shorter. I was one of the four finalists. One fine day, they told me I was selected. I was happy to have come first. I wanted to make my parents proud.”

Mohammad Samad was born to Muslim parents. His father runs a grocery store in Roorkee. He has one elder brother and four elder sisters.
Career
He did his schooling from St. Gabriel’s Academy, Roorkee. He made his first on-screen appearance as a child artist in 2012 by playing the lead role of Gattu in the Bollywood film “Gattu.” He recieved the Best Child Actor Award at the 12th New York Indian Film Festival for his role.

Samad has featured in TV commercials for many popular brands including Pepsi. He also made his appearance in a short Punjabi film, Mast Qalandar (2015), in which he played the role of Montek.
In 2018, he played the lead role of Manju Kumar in the web series “Selection Day” which streamed on Netflix.
