Namita Kaul Bhattacharya, also simply known as Namita Bhattacharya or Gunu, was adopted by Atal Bihari Vajpayee. She has always remained away from the spotlight and has not disclosed any personal information to the media. She worked as a primary school teacher when her father and husband were engrossed in their election campaign in the 90s.
Family, Caste & Husband
She was taken in the foster care of one of the most influential politicians in India. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, her foster father, served the office of Prime Minister 3 times. Her father kept his private life secretive from his public life. He lived with his extended family member, Rajkumari Kaul, who was rumoured to be his lover. He remained unmarried and adopted Namita and took care of her as her own daughter.
She belongs to the Hindu Brahmin section of society. She grew up with her sister Nandita Nanda, daughter of Rajkumari Kaul.
While pursuing her graduation she fell in love with Ranjan Bhattacharya, who was pursuing honours in economics and married him. They have a daughter together, Niharika.
Her father, Atal Ji passed away on 16 August 2018 at the AIIMS hospital in Delhi.
Education
She did her graduation from Delhi’s Shri Ram College of Commerce where she also met her husband for the first time.
She was always good at studies and later became a Primary School Teacher.
