Nitin Kumar Dhankhar was born on Monday, 21 May 2001 (age 22 years; as of 2023) in Kaloi, Jhajjar, Haryana. His zodiac sign is Gemini. According to Nitin Kumar, after he lost his father at a young age, his uncle played a crucial role in helping him establish a career in kabaddi. In a media conversation, he mentioned facing a tough situation but staying strong, with his uncle, Tejpal Singh, serving as his inspiration to pursue a career in kabaddi. He added in the same discussion that in 2017, he was enrolled at the Narwal Kabaddi and Sports Academy in Haryana, where he received Kabaddi training by Naresh Narwal, well-known for coaching the famous Indian kabaddi player Pardeep Narwal. Nitin Kumar also shared that he began playing kabaddi in the tenth grade because he was not excelling in his studies. He said,

I started playing kabaddi after the 10th standard. I was not that good in studies. I am from Haryana and I started training at Pardeep Narwal Academy under coach Naresh Narwal.”

He also won the title of ‘Best Raider of The Match’ during the Yuva Kabaddi Series with Hampi Heroes in Ranchi, which made him one of the most successful players in the league’s history.

In October 2023, Nitin Kumar was selected by the Bengal Warriors in the tenth season of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) for Rs. 32.20 lakhs.
