Poonam Khemnar represented Pune University Cricket team at West Zone (silver medal) and All India Inter-University at V.B.S. Purvanchal University, Jaunpur. She played in the Ranji trophy from the Maharashtra team and is regarded as one of the best all-rounders in Maharashtra. She also played as a guest player for the Nagaland team in the Women’s Senior One Day Trophy in the 2021-22 season. She played in the Warrior Women’s Premier League and captained the H.P.Supernova team. She was acquired by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB ) in the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction for Rs10 lakhs.
Poonam Khemnar was acquired by the UP Warriorz for Rs. 10 lakh in the 2024 Women’s Premier League auction held in Mumbai on 9 December 2023.
