Pulkit Samrat was born on Thursday, 29 December 1983 (age 41 years; as of 2024) in Delhi, India. His zodiac sign is Capricorn. He attended Manav Sthali School in New Delhi. He completed his schooling at the Montfort Senior Secondary School in Delhi.
He pursued an advertising course at the Apeejay Institute of Design in Delhi; however, after five months, he got a job as a model. So, he stopped going to school and moved to Mumbai. There, he started taking acting classes with Kishore Namit Kapoor.

Television
In 2005, Samrat went to Mumbai. In 2006, he made his acting debut with Star Plus’ TV show titled ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi,’ made by Balaji Telefilms. He played Laksh Virani, acting alongside Mouni Roy and Tia Bajpai. However, he left the show in 2007.
In 2008, he was a contestant on Star Plus’ reality show ‘Kaho Na Yaar Hai.’ Then, in 2011, Samrat starred as the lead in choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant’s musical theatre production, ‘Taj Express.’
Film
In 2012, he made his film debut with the Hindi romantic comedy film ‘Bitto Boss’ in which he played the titular role of a wedding videographer from Punjab.
He hit the spotlight after he played the role of Vikas Gulati ‘Hunny’ in the 2013 Hindi comedy thriller film ‘Fukrey.’
In his first movie of 2015, Samrat played Inspector Robin Singh in ‘Dolly Ki Doli,’ alongside Sonam Kapoor. In 2016, he had two more Hindi film releases, both with Yami Gautam. First was ‘Sanam Re,’ followed by ‘Junooniyat.’ Both the films didn’t fare well with critics and were considered box-office failures. In 2023, he appeared in the third film of the Fukrey film series titled ‘Fukrey 3.’

Controversies
Lodged a Complaint against Ekta Kapoor
In 2007, Pulkit left the TV show ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ after a disagreement with Ekta Kapoor and openly confronted her, accusing Balaji Telefilms of unfair treatment regarding actors’ fees. He filed a lawsuit against Ekta, claiming she damaged his reputation publicly and owed him Rs 3.21 lakh. Due to this, Pulkit struggled to find work as Balaji and other TV production companies avoided hiring him.
Broke Hotel Furniture
Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam’s second romantic movie, ‘Junooniyat,’ didn’t do well at the box office. It seemed Pulkit had a hard time dealing with this failure, especially because it was the second flop in a row for the rumoured couple. There were reports of Pulkit losing his temper at the Mumbai airport and later damaging hotel furniture. Allegedly, he was upset with the producers for not spending enough on promoting the film. Pulkit reportedly broke a Maharaja chair in his hotel room and demanded the producers cover the Rs 50,000 worth of damage.
Misbehaved with Media
At the Mumbai airport, Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam were seen together. Pulkit, who had recently split from his wife, got upset when he saw the paparazzi and even threatened a reporter by lifting his suitcase when questioned. Yami, however, chose to leave the airport without engaging with the media.
