In 2011, Purnendu Bhattacharya made his Bollywood debut with the Hindi crime drama film titled ‘No One Killed Jessica’ in which he played the character of Nigam.
In 2014, Purnendu was cast in the Hindi drama film titled ‘Children of War’ also known as ‘The Bastard Child’ which was based on the 1971 Bangladesh genocide and the Bangladesh Liberation War. He played the character of Abbu in the film.
In 2017, he was cast in the Hindi comedy film titled ‘Fukrey Returns’ in which he played the character of Brijmohan, the Delhi Chief Minister.

- When Purnendu Bhattacharya was around 4-5 years of age, his father used to conduct rehearsals of theatre plays at his home and Purnendu used to watch all the artists and surprisingly learn all their dialogues. That’s how his interest in acting grew.
