In 2011, she contested the Haryana Legislative Assembly bye-election from the Adam Pur constituency on a Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) ticket. The seat was left vacant by her husband, Kuldeep Bishnoi, as he became a Member of Parliament and resigned as an MLA. Haryana Janhit Congress party was founded by Bhajan Lal in 2007, after breaking away from the Indian National Congress. In 2014, she contested the Haryana Assembly elections from the Adam Pur constituency and defeated INLD’s (Indian National Lok Dal) Umed S Lohan by 14,652 votes.

Alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party

Renuka Bishnoi, along with her husband, Kuldeep Bishnoi, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on, 4 August 2022. They were formally inducted into the party in the presence of state BJP president OP Dhankar and Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat at party headquarters in New Delhi.
